"... many water can not quench this love ..." (part of a song)
When I heard that phrase as I was in worship and I was reminded of
Jesus walking on the waters - Matthew 14:22-33. Verse 23 Jesus prepared
for what came next.
Prior to this: Feeding of 5,000 people.
Evening Time:verse 23
Jesus (on purpose) sent the disciples in a boat, in the water,
they were a considable distance away from land and Jesus, and
they were being hit by the waves, why? because the wind was behind
the waves. That is why the waves were against them.
NOTE: Jesus after the Miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 went to be
alone in prayer (to get ready, to hear His Fathers voice, to get
strengthened, refreshed,and direction / instruction.)
DURING EVENING TIME:verse 24
The boat was buffed by the waves, due to the wind being against
the boat (actually against the disciples; followers; God's
called out ones).
Our Lord states that we must fix our eyes on Jesus; on the
things above. But in order for our enemy not to have an area
where he can sink his hook in us we must get rid of the things that
he can snag his hook in us with. Why should we fear the storm and
its waves if we know who truly who is in control? It is when we do
not know this that fear arises and the enemy throws his line and
hook and catches us and tries to pull us under water to drawn us.
WHO IS BEHIND THE WAVES?
Daniel 10:10-13 "A hand touched me and set me trembling on my
hands and knees. He said, "Daniel, you who are highly esteemed,
consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and
stand up, for I have now been sent to you." And when he said
this to me, I stood up trembling. The he continued, "Do not be
afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to
gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God,
your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days."
1 Thessalonians 2:18 "For we wanted to come to you-certainly
I, Paul, did, again and again-Satan stopped us"
1 Peter 5:8 "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith..."
In these verses we read that the devil;Satan is the one behind the
waves that was hiting the disciples and is against us today.
Still as children of God Almighty we must remember that we
have been given the same authority hat Jesus had as He
walked on this earth. He too felt the winds against Him as he
walked on the waters not just the disciples.
WHO HAS OVERCOME ON OUR BEHALF?
Mark 1:34 "and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also
drove out many demons, but He would not let the demons speak because
they knew who He was."
Mark 3:11-12 "When ever the evil spirits saw Him and cried out, "You
are the Son of God." But He gave them strict orders not to tell who
He was."
Mark 5:11-12 "A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside.
The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go
into them." He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came our
and went into the pigs."
You may say, "Yes, but that was Jesus." Well, who do you think is
living inside of you as a child of God? The same Spirit that
anointed and empowered Jesus to do God's will on this earth is
inside you."
Luke 10:19 "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and
scorpion and to over come all the power of the enemy; nothing
will harm you."
You must believe in what Christ has accomplished on the cross and
accept it as true,as yours, and not let go of it.
Colossians 2:9-10,12-15 "For in Christ all the fullness of the
Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in
Christ... having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with
Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the
dead... God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
...And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public
spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." Do not let the
waves over power you, you are more than a conquer.
OUR POSITION IS: WATCHFULNESS
Luke 12:38 "It will be good for those servants whose master finds
them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the
night." We must be ready at all times. We must know what
the enemy is looking for to sink his hook in it.
We must keep our hearts tender without hindrances to be
able to hear our heavenly Fathers voice.
